Background
I have been blessed with some of the most amazingly talented and experienced fighters in the world. Whether it's Muay Thai or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I have learned raw authenticity from some of the best in the world. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt: Under BJJ Black Belt Takeo Draculino Tani, Zorobabel Moreira, Rafael Correa de Lima, Almiro Barros, Bruno Pucci, and Alex Silvia. Boxing/ Muay Thai Red String: Under Orono Wor Petchpun, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, Saknarong Sityodtong, Yodsanan Sityodtong, and Daorung Sityodtong. Greco Roman Wrestling and MMA: Under Heath Sims, Mitch Chilson, and Eddie Ng. My Story: Yo, my name is Jacob, I go by Jake "The Alaskan Assassin" and I'm obsessed with Mixed Martial Arts! I was bullied as a child and since the age of 11 I immersed myself in the arts of Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. That's where it all started! The bullying subsided shortly after(: I grew up traveling the world, I lived in 6 different states and then internationally in 8 different countries. I was always the new kid but I always found a Martial Arts Gym of some kind and kept practicing. I'm used to being the new kid and I am used to be under estimated, I don't let it get under my skin. 4 years after I started grappling (wrestling/BJJ) I was having difficulty with bullies when I moved to ShenZhen China. I was on a waiting list to get into an international school so in the mean time I attended the local Chinese school. They didn't like white people.... Maybe they thought I was gonna steal their girlfriends lol, I don't know! For about a month I had my ass beat at least 3 times a week by a group of the Chinese douchebags. I had no striking yet. My grappling was effective when I could quickly cover the distance, single leg take down one, get my underhooks to control another and then sink in a quick guillotine choke. I could manage to take out 1 or 2 with grappling, but with multiple opponents it was just too much. I needed striking. I turned to Wing Chun as it was readily available in ShenZhen but at the first gym I went to I was told I should l learn Muay Thai instead. I wasn't convinced so I went home to do my research first, I was sold! From then on I started to incorporate Muay Thai techniques into my fighting style. I liked how it was fairly wide stance and easy to transition to with my wrestling background. With my school bullies I instantly started using my newly learned techniques of push kicks and leg kicks to maintain long range to buy myself time with my multiple adversaries. Pushing one away while utilized the clinch with another to give a good knee to the body and drop that fucker like a bad habit. Of course I would take a few shots but it was the first time I knew how to roll with the punches. I was actually starting to win. After two weeks of learning Muay Thai they left me alone. 2 more weeks went by and I thought to myself one day, "Why am I doing this? Nobody is bullying me anymore, why have I kept practicing?" I was so lost in it that I didn't even think about the bullying or that I was working for anything. I just loved it, it didn't feel like hard work, it didn't feel like training, it was just joy. Tapping someone out, getting tapped out, hitting someone in the face sparring, or getting hit. I gave no flying fucks. I started amateur MMA fights and showed up to my new school with black eyes every week and always got made fun of because people thought I got my ass kicked. No fucks given😄 I was 15 years old and practicing with people that were years older than me. I constantly reminded myself to never fear failure because there is no such thing. You win or you learn and I carry that philosophy with me in my core. I never lose because I have an undefeated attitude. Doesn't mean I'm the best, I don't believe there is. I never aim to be the best because that indicates a peak or a summit. I aim to be better because with that word, there are no limits. I push myself harder everyday and I am getting better every day. Without spoiling the movie they'll make about me in the future, I kept traveling the world! Chin down, hopes up! I kept on learning, I kept evolving and when I moved to Singapore I joined Evolve MMA. The best MMA gym in Asia, one lucky bastard. I was 16 years old and walked in with my eyes wide! Every instructor was a World Champion that I watched on tv. I was amazed. I also met and was trained by notable ONE FC Fighters, Eddie Ng, Mich Chilson, Shinya Aoki, Bruno Pucci, and Almiro Barros. I received direct wrestling and MMA training from Heath Sims who is partners with Dan Henderson. I received world class Muay Thai training from the best Muay Thai fighters in the world such as Orono Wor Petchpun, Sam A Gaiyanghadao, and Saknarong Sityodtong. With confidence I can say that other amateurs I will be fighting don't have this high quality and authentic instruction. My parents let me homeschool to train at Evolve MMA when I was 16 years old so that I could devote all of my time to becoming a fighter. In Singapore they wouldn't allow MMA fights for people under the age of 18 so all my matches and sparring took place inside the gym. Under the wisdom of my coaches I saved my chin and refrained from hard sparring. After all the traveling I had done in my life it was weighing on me heavily and I suffered from severe depression. After 2 years of training nothing really seemed fun and I questioned my purpose. I took a year off of practicing martial arts and turned to gymnastics. I never stopped taking care of my body, working out, and getting stronger, I just thought maybe MMA wasn't the right path for me. I was so wrong! I can't shake it off and some voices can't be ignored. I realized this is something I love and I have to pursue. I got back into training, finished high school and joined the United States Navy. I am practicing everyday, eating like a champ, and looking into every organization that I can. I am ready to go!
